Call for Entries: Voices of the Americas

About Red Tipográfica

Red Tipográfica is a space for connection and collaboration for people who use letterforms as tools for expression and change. We believe design is a way to build identity, amplify voices, and challenge structures that suppress subjectivity. Through typography, lettering, and calligraphy, we strengthen our roots, explore new ways of storytelling, and bring visibility to realities that have been and continue to be silenced.

Design is an act rooted in memory and oriented toward the future. It affirms our cultural heritage, questions the present, and opens paths for new generations and their concerns. Our commitment is to a graphic language that reflects the diversity of Latin America and the Caribbean, one that celebrates our languages, our histories, and our resistance. We believe in collective creation and the exchange of knowledge as a powerful force for transformation. At Red Tipográfica, we design in community, with voices of our own.

What is this call for entries about?

Design is also a political act. Voces de Las Américas invites designers, typographers, calligraphers, and visual artists to submit works where typography, lettering, signage, or calligraphy are central to a message of social change.

We are looking for pieces that address urgent issues in Latin America and the Caribbean, such as:

  • Protest and resistance: social struggles, demonstrations, freedom of expression
  • Equity and human rights: feminism, gender freedom, dissent, and social justice
  • Peoples and memory: identity, migration, indigenous languages, decolonization
  • Denunciation and visibility: racism, discrimination, climate crisis, inequality

The power of the written word and graphics has historically accompanied movements of resistance. This call for entries aims to strengthen this perspective and provide space for diverse voices that, through design, challenge, propose, and build possible futures.

We have also prepared a list of phrases you can use to reinforce your message.
